What is SERVICE AS ACTION ?

The Service as Action (SA) program is an important part of Australian International Academy (AIA), Kellyville Program because it promotes universal citizenship. This means accepting your role and your duty to serve the local, national and international community.

What are SA Goals?

To develop attitudes and values that focus on the rights and responsibilities that humans have to care for and improve the broader communities in which we live.

What Do We Expect From Our Students?

  1. You are expected to participate in at LEAST 4 significant SA activities throughout the year, one per term.
  2. All documentation regarding Service as Action experiences will be carried out directly on Managebac. Students will utilise Managebac to record their Service as Action encounters, including reflective journal entries and portfolios. These reflections enable students to express their learning, confront challenges, celebrate successes, and assess the impact of their service activities.

What Do Students Achieve From SA?

The AIMS of SA are that with appropriate guidance and support, students should:

  1. Become more aware of their own strengths and areas for growth
  2. Undertake challengesthat develop new skills
  3. Discuss, evaluate and plan student-initiated activities
  4. Work collaboratively with others
  5. Develop international-mindedness through global engagement, multilingualism and intercultural understanding
  6. Consider the ethical implications of their actions.

We encourage you to review the attached FAQ document for further details on the SA program, including guidelines, expectations, and ideas for service activities.
