Personal Project

A Celebration of Growth, Purpose, and Student Voice

The Personal Project is the culmination of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at AIA. Completed independently in Year 10, it allows students to explore something they are passionate about and demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and values they’ve developed across the MYP.

Each student creates a unique product or outcome, documents their process, and reflects on their learning journey. The project is proudly presented at the Personal Project Exhibition—a key milestone before students transition into the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or the HSC.

What is the Personal Project?

It’s more than just a research assignment—it’s a personalised inquiry that:

  • Reflects the student’s identity, interests, and values
  • Applies ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills: planning, research, organisation, reflection
  • Connects to the IB Learner Profile and Islamic character development
  • Produces a final product, supported by a written report and process journal

What’s Involved?

Each project includes:

  • A goal aligned with personal interest and global relevance
  • A process journal to document thinking, research, meetings, and learning
  • A product (physical, digital, artistic, written, or service-based)
  • A report evaluating success, challenges, and skill development
  • A public exhibition to share their journey with the AIA community
