Inspiring a Lifelong Love of Learning, Faith, and Community
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) at AIA is the next step in your child’s IB journey. Designed for students in Years 7 to 10, the MYP supports learners as they move into adolescence, helping them make meaningful connections between subjects, faith, and the world around them.
At this stage, students begin to explore more complex ideas, develop independence, and refine the skills that will prepare them for senior studies and lifelong learning.

What Learning Looks Like at AIA (K–6)
MYP students engage in:
Faith-Connected Inquiry – applying Islamic teachings to social, ethical, and global questions
Interdisciplinary Units – exploring global contexts across multiple subjects
Service as Action – planning and leading meaningful community initiatives
ATL Skill Development – growing in research, time management, collaboration, and reflection
MYP students study eight subject groups:
- Language and Literature
- Language Acquisition
- Individuals and Societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- Design and Technology
- The Arts
- Health and Physical Education
- Quran and Islamic Studies
Students develop character through a values-rich program aligned with Islamic teachings. Kindness, honesty, responsibility, and respect are lived values in our classrooms.
Our students grow spiritually alongside academic learning through:
- Daily du’aa and adhkar
- Qur’an memorisation and tajweed
- Islamic Studies including Hadith, Aqeedah, Ibadah, Seerah
- Values-based learning such as patience, kindness, and community service
- Weekly Halaqat and morning Qur’an classes
In the MYP, student voice becomes more prominent. Learners:
- Set personal and academic goals
- Reflect regularly on their growth and choices
- Take initiative in service, leadership, and co-curricular programs
- Are supported by a strong wellbeing team, Islamic mentors, and caring educators
A highlight of the MYP is the Personal Project, completed in Year 10. This independent, student-driven inquiry allows students to:
- Choose a topic they are passionate about
- Plan, research, and develop a product or outcome
- Reflect on their learning process and personal growth
- Share their work through a formal exhibition
It’s a powerful way to demonstrate the skills, agency, and Islamic character they’ve developed during their MYP journey.
The MYP builds the foundation for success in either:
- The IB Diploma Programme (DP)
- The NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC)
Students graduate from the MYP with a strong sense of purpose, identity, and academic readiness for the next stage.
